The layout decides everything else
Door swings, the run between sink and range, whether two people can pass behind a pulled-out stool. These get settled on paper, before a single cabinet is ordered, because they are the part you cannot change afterwards. Finishes are a preference. Layout is the kitchen.
The appliances are chosen before the cabinets
Every appliance has a cut sheet with real clearances on it. Read after the cabinet order, it is a two-inch gap beside the range for the life of the kitchen. Read before, it is a fitted kitchen.
The stone is templated on set cabinets
Never off a drawing, because a top cut to a drawing fits a drawing. We walk the slab, place the seam away from the sink, and confirm every cutout against the appliance that is going in it.
You see what we find
If the wall was carrying load, the joists run the wrong way for the island sink, or there is old knob and tube behind the plaster, you get photographs and a written price before anything is closed up.
